National Chocolate Cake Day!

Wednesday was National Chocolate Cake Day and of course we had to celebrate so we had a playdate with chocolate cupcakes! Izzy's friends came over and we frosted and decorated a bunch of chocolate cupcakes. They had a lot of fun with all the sprinkles but their favorite part was eating them. They did really well and there really wasn't that much of a mess to clean up. After they ate they played for a while so the mom's could chat. It was a great night!

They all loved this toy!

Some Random Pics

Here are just a few pics that I wanted to share! We have had super cold weather and it gets dark so early in the evenings so we don't get outside all that often. Whenever we get the chance we take it! Izabel loves having Tanner ride with her in the wagon. We even took a walk with Evie and Lily! Enjoy :)

Updates

Just a few things to mention today. Izabel and Tanner are both doing really well. A little over a week ago they both had really high fevers for no apparent reason. I took them both the pediatrician but nothing was wrong so we just gave them tylenol and motrin and waited. They are both feeling much better now.

Tanner is a little crankier than normal but he has some new teeth coming in so that is probably why. We have started giving him more and more table foods. He has eaten bananas, cheese, noodles, carrots and pears. He's not a fan of doing it himself though! He is still happy most of the time (except for when the teeth are bothering him) but he is starting to get more annoyed with Izabel. He waves and gives kisses and says Mama all the time. He even waves and kisses himself in the mirror and it's so cute.

Izabel is talking more and more but she is still having trouble getting some words out and making some sounds. We're working on getting an appointment with the speech therapist at CHKD for an evaluation. We've also been looking at preschools for the fall so hopefully those two things will help a lot! Our church just started a 3 and 4 year old program so we're hoping they will take her. She loves movies now and wants to watch Nemo everyday! She is also playing more in her room now that Tanner can come in and keep her company. It's nice to see them starting to play together.

Over the weekend we tried to relax. Noah and I got to go see The Book of Eli Friday night. I thought it was pretty good. Saturday morning Noah had a class and then when he got home I went to a baby shower for one of the moms in the playgroup. It was a lot of fun and it was nice to get to chat with everyone without having to chase the kids around! Sunday we went to church and then Amy and Ray came over for dinner and to play games. We had a really nice time. This week is exam week at school so my schedule is a little more relaxed. The problem for me is that DECA projects are due next week so they need to be in the mail by Friday. DECA is the student organization I run and the projects are 10-30 page written manuals for state competition. This year we are sending 6 of them so that is a lot of editing and re-editing for me! It'll be worth it to see my students succeed!

I don't have any pictures because I left my camera at the baby shower but I should get it back tonight at our play date. I'll post another update in the next couple of days so you can see how we celebrated National Chocolate Cake Day! Have a great rest of the week :)

9 Month Checkup

Today I took Tanner to see Dr. Scott for his 9 month checkup. We have really gotten to know Dr. Scott pretty well since Izabel was born and we just love him!

Tanner is 21lbs 2 oz and 29.5 inches long! He is obviously growing really well and Dr. Scott is very happy with how he is progressing. He is in the 85th-90th percentile for his length and 65th-70th percentile for his weight. Pretty soon he'll catch up and I'm sure pass Izabel in these areas! Needless to say he is not getting carried around in his car seat anymore :)

We talked about using the sippy cup and introducing finger foods. Tanner is eating stage 3 jar foods but moving on to finger foods and more normal foods would sure help out on the grocery bill. Tanner has sat up, crawled and pulled up to standing right on schedule. He even waved at himself last night in the mirror! Everything checked out perfectly and Tanner was described as having a "soft temperment" which just means he is very laid back. He didn't even cry when he got the two shots the came with this visit. He is the picture of health and development for a 9 month old and we couldn't be happier to have such a happy healthy little boy!

Check back later this week for 9 month pictures of our little quarterback!

9 Months!

Okay so I'm a little late on the 9 month post and pictures but life is crazy like usual!

It's hard to believe Tanner is 9 months old and 3/4 of the way through his first year! It seems like just yesterday he was a newborn and I was struggling to survive with two children under 2. However here we are and life is great. Tanner is crawling all over the place and finally using his knees more often than his arms. He's pulling up and starting to cruise around the room. He tries to play and enjoys his toys a lot more when Izzy is not around! Sometimes I think he likes it when we put him in the entertainer so she can't bother him :)

He loves to jump and be thrown up in the air. We put him in the doorway jumper and will jump until he falls asleep! He's still happy and smiling all the time. He has two teeth and is slowly getting more hair. Luckily he didn't really lose any or get a bald spot. He sleeps great. He's pretty much given up his morning nap but he takes a great afternoon nap and then sleeps from about 8 at night until 7 or 8 in the morning. We've almost got him and Izzy sleeping for the same amount of time which makes life so much better. He's eating stage three foods and starting on finger foods. He loves the yogurt bites and puffs. He HATES green beans. He's not a fussy eater but there is no way to get green beans in his mouth. He hates getting his diaper changed or getting dressed but other than that he is always happy and the easiest baby I have ever seen!

Izzy took my toy away again!
Oh well, I'll just play with this oneStanding up to play

1st Weekend of 2010

We both had a three day weekend due to the holiday so it was really nice to hang out and relax as a family. For New Years Eve we took Izabel to my mom's house for a sleepover and then just hung out and played games until midnight. We went to bed shortly after only to be woken up at 4am. My mom said Izabel had been screaming for quite a while and hadn't really slept so I got up and went to get her. I really thought I had a couple years before I would have to pick her up from a sleepover in the middle of the night! I brought her home and it took me an hour and a half to get her to sleep. I think she had a tummy ache and didn't feel well. I got up with Tanner a few hours later and Izabel and Noah slept in until 10am!

For New Years Day we worked around the house cleaning and organizing. Pretty much all of the Christmas stuff was cleaned up so we put that in the attic and just spent the day relaxing and playing with the wii. We had the Ingrams over for dinner and Izabel and Tanner had a great time playing with their girls (although Izabel and Evie fight over toys a lot!) Amy and Ray came over after dinner and played games with us for a while.

Saturday morning we got up and got going early so we could meet the Ingrams at the aquarium. We have a membership but we hadn't been there since the new section opened so we were excited to go. Izabel kept saying "I want to see fishies." We had a nice time there and then headed home for lunch and naps.

After naptime we went over to the Ingram's for spaghetti dinner and game night. Izabel and Evie did much better and other than one meltdown the kids were great! We had a great time playing poker and hanging out with everyone as usual.

Coloring kept them quite for a little bit
Even the girls got in on the gamesSorry it's so blurry but it's proof they were getting along!

Sunday morning I got to sleep in a little bit. Noah got up with the kids and was giving Izabel a bath when I got up. I gave Tanner a bath and got us all ready for church. After church we had lunch and put the kids down for a nap. Auntie Ann came over to play with us and stayed for dinner. We played wii and watched State of Play which was pretty good.

We had a great weekend and it was a great start to the new year! Now it's time to get back to our regular (but improved) routine!
