New Kitchen and Yard Work

We've been looking for some bigger toys for Izabel to play with and for her to have outside. One of the things we wanted for her was a play kitchen to put in our kitchen. Yesterday we found one on the side of the road and it is practically brand new! Since we can't afford a new one right now we brought it home to give it a closer inspection and it really is nice. Noah took it all apart and cleaned it with bleach so I felt better about bringing it into the house. We put it in the kitchen and Izabel had the biggest smile on her face when she saw it. She played with it for quite a while and I am so happy we were able to get it for her. Now I just have to go to Toys R Us and get her some play food and accessories for it! Yay for our neighbors!!!

Today Noah, Theresa, Ann and Joan planned to work on our backyard. They got started fairly early and they were digging up flower beds and moving plants around. The backyard was just way to overgrown and overdone so we wanted to pull up some things have room for more grass. It's not done but they made quite a bit of progress. Izabel spent almost the whole day outside and she loved it. She loves being outside so much but right now we don't have much for her to do out there. That's why we've been looking for the big toys like a slide and picnic table or play house. Today she was a big helper and really enjoyed gardening! Maybe she'll enjoy it when she's older too!!!

First Week with Tanner

Yesterday Tanner was one week old and we have now been home for 5 days. We are settling in pretty nicely. I m working on moving around a little easier and breastfeeding. I forgot that it is a bit of a challenge in the beginning but I know it gets easier and I'll make it through. Noah has been amazing helping with everything and pretty much doing anything I ask. Izabel has also done much better than we expected and is still sleeping through the night. She loves to kiss Tanner and wants to hold him all the time.

On Monday we took Tanner to the doctor for the first time. He weighs 8 lbs 8 oz now and is a little jaundice but they were pretty confident it would clear up on its own. After the doctor we stopped by Babies R Us to pick up a few things and then headed home. That was enough of an outing for me and Tanner!
Tuesday Rebecca came to visit with RJ and Rylee. RJ and Izabel played great while Rebecca and I talked and Noah got to get a hair cut and have a few minutes to himself. When he got home he fed the kids lunch and then took them for a walk in the wagon. They had a great time and we all had a really nice visit. That afternoon Angie came by to visit and then later my mom and dad came by so we had a nice day catching up with everyone.

Wednesday Noah and Tanner took me to the doctor while Izabel stayed with my mom. After we got home Izzy and my mom headed out to run some errands so we could try and get some sleep!

Today Noah's mom came to visit so Noah and Izabel went to pick her up at the airport. Izabel took her little suitcase and pulled it around the airport. Izabel was excited to see her and have someone to give her a little extra attention which was one of the big reasons we were excited for her to come! Ann and Theresa came over to visit and have dinner and we all hung out. We're still doing well at night and Noah is getting more sleep now that I can get up a little easier. So far everything is going pretty well!

18 months, Easter and Maternity Pics...Finally!!!

As you may recall we had Easter, 18 month and maternity pictures taken a few weeks ago. I promised to post them as soon as I got them and I didn't break that promise it just took me forever to get them! I had to finally call and I just got them online today. Sometimes technology doesn't always do what we want it to! Anyway here are the pictures. Like I said in a previous post, there weren't very many good ones and now Easter is over and I'm not pregnant anymore but I thought I'd share some of them anyway. Enjoy and if you'd like to see all of the pictures or order any for yourself click here and enter Whitney Ketchledge in the customer name space!

P.S. Several of you have been asking when I am going to change the header to say a family of four. As soon as I have a new family pic of the four of us to put up and good one of Tanner I will have the whole header redone! Hopefully that will be accomplished with his one month pics!

Easter Celebrations

Obvoiously we didn't have a whole lot planned for Easter since we had just brought Tanner home but we wanted to make sure we celebrated as much as we could. My parents picked up Izabel and took her to church with them Sunday morning. I love her Easter dress so much and I was so glad she got to wear it even though the weather could have been better! I hated covering it up with her coat. After she got back from church we hung out and she took a nap. Then my Mom, Grandma, Matt, Amy, Ray and friend Courtney came over for Easter lunch/dinner. We had ham, sweet potatoes, corn, salad, mac & cheese and lots of yummy desserts. Then we went outside for Izabel to have an Easter egg hunt. It only took her a few minutes to get the hang of it and then she was off finding the eggs. Most of the eggs had little snack things in them like cheerios or animal crackers but one of them had a piece of candy. Izabel never has candy but for this special occasion we let her have the chocolate she found in the egg! After the egg hunt everyone started to head out. I was spent and Tanner needed to eat. We had a great day but we were all exhausted when it was over. Of course Tanner didn't let me and Noah get as much sleep as we did the first night but at least Izabel slept through the night again! Hope everyone had a very Happy Easter!

Tanner's Arrival and First Day at Home!

On Wednesday we had everything ready and we got up to head to the hospital for Tanner's birthday! Noah's sister Theresa came to stay with Izabel which Izabel was very excited about. Since I had a c-section with Izabel I was pretty sure I knew what to expect this time but I was way wrong. They got me ready just like before and monitored me and the baby until it was time for surgery. They gave me an epidural which hurt just as bad as I remember only this time they didn't give me the same amount so I wasn't as numb as before. I started getting nauseous so the doctor gave me something so I wouldn't throw up and I must have fallen asleep because the next thing I know they are pulling Tanner out. I saw him over the curtain and heard him cry and then it all goes kind of fuzzy because I was in so much pain. The doctor kept giving me more pain medicine but it didn't help like it should have. Noah brought Tanner over for me to see and hold but I don't remember that either! When I was finally in less pain and a little relaxed I was on my way to recovery which went really well. I was only there for about 45 minutes and then they took me up to my room. I was bleeding more than normal so they had to give me some extra meds and massage my uterus to get it to contract but other than that I was fine and most importantly Tanner was fine and very healthy!
They finally brought him to me and he latched on the very first time I tried to nurse him. Izabel did not do so well with nursing at first so it was exciting that I wouldn't have to struggle so much with getting Tanner to eat. Theresa brought Izabel up to meet Tanner and she did so much better than we expected. She loved seeing him and when we asked where he was she pointed to him instead of my stomach. She was okay watching everyone hold him and she was even okay with my being in the bed and not being able to pick her up. She didn't like my IV but who could blame her for that!
The next couple days we had visitors come in and out and we pretty much just watched tv and hung out with Tanner. We slept as much as we could. Tanner passed all of his tests and was eating well but still losing a little more weight than they would have liked. On Saturday we were discharged and we brought Tanner home weighing 8lbs 3oz. Of course moving around is very hard for me and my milk has come in so that is pretty uncomfortable but I am doing better than I was at this point with Izabel so hopefully things will continue to go well. Izabel was so excited when we got home with Tanner and she wanted to be next to him all the time. She thinks he is a new toy for her to play with and it was really hard to give her all the attention she needs.
Noah is busy doing everything for me and Tanner as well as Izabel but hopefully I'll be moving around more soon. The first night couldn't have gone better. Izabel slept through the night and Tanner got up to eat every 3-4 hours and went right back to sleep after he was done. We'll see how things go from here on out! We know it won't be easy but we're excited to have them both home and doing well. Enjoy a few pictures from the hospital and our first day at home!
